Tibidabo amusement park, Barcelona, a family orientated classic amusement park on top of the Tibidabo hill.

Tibidabo amusement park Barcelona is a traditional amusement park that has been operating for over 120 years. It is now owned and run by Barcelona City Council, who take care of the daily running of the park. The purchase of Tibidabo by Barcelona Council, saved the iconic park from closing in 1999. It is situated on top of the 512-meter-high Serra de Collserola hill. The amusement park was built in 1899 by Salvador Andreu. The park opened in 1905 and is Europe’s third-oldest operating amusement park.

Tibidabo has a collection of older rides dating back many years and also more modern rides. An example of one of the classic rides is the 1928 Avió Airplane ride. The 500 meter hill where the ride is constructed, gives riders the feel of flying over Barcelona. There is the Muntanya Russa a large rollercoaster 500 meters above sea level. The park’s main water ride is the classic log flume. To add the attractions are many shows, interactive cinemas and marionette performances. There is also a museum that shows some history of the park

Because of the amusement park’s privileged position, there are many great chances to view Barcelona. There are within the park panoramic viewing areas. This will provide an opportunity to take some memorable photos of the city of Barcelona. Another chance to view Barcelona from above is riding some of the more elevated rides and attractions that the park offers.

Tibidabo amusement park Barcelona does lack large-scale rollercoasters and thrill rides. The amusement park primarily focuses on a family audience. However, if it is world-class rides and attractions you are looking for, we advise you to head to Portaventura. Tibidabo serves its purpose as an all-round family amusement park, traditional and enough attractions to keep everyone happy.
