Many people forget that Barcelona, not only is by thecsea, but has some great beaches. One of the most popular beaches of Barcelona situated in the Barceloneta district of the city is Barceloneta Beach. Barceloneta beach is also quite close to the aerial tramway cable car that takes you to Montjuïc and also Barcelona Zoo. These two popular attractions could be visited before or after visiting Barceloneta Beach, due to their proximity.

The beach has an abundance of amenities such as lifeguards on duty, showers, beach volleyball and plenty of bars and ice cream kiosks. Around the Barceloneta beach are the beaches of Sant Sebastia Beach, Sant Miquel Beach and Somorrostro Beach. These form all the beaches in the Barceloneta district.

The beach also has good facilities and access for people with mobility issues. The busiest months are July and August when school and work holidays takes place, and also with extra tourists in the city.

Pickpockets and petty thiefs are present on this beach during the busy summer months. Leave valuables in your hotel saftey deposit box and what you must take with dont leave unguarded. Be very carefull not to leave your mobile phone when swimming or getting refreshments.

A Day At A Barcelona Beach

Barcelona is blessed that it offers a city break, but also a beach holiday experience. Having a day lounging on by the Mediterranean Sea is not only possible in Barcelona, but recommended. Barceloneta Beach, thanks to its proximity to Barcelona city center, attracts many tourists. The idea of a city break and beach holiday is too much to resist for many in the summer months. However, July and August can be very busy when the school holidays have started.

Barceloneta Beach has almost enough room for everyone at 1.1 km long; however, this may still be a challenge in July and August. Don’t forget to try the seafood at many of the nearby restaurants. Barceloneta beach has a long history of fishermen leaving for their daily catch, so you can be sure of great seafood, Remember, Barcelona’s beaches prohibit smoking, so don’t be tempted to light up a cigarette!

Barceloneta Beach is considered a family-friendly beach. This means it is safe for children as long as an adult supervises them. The lifeguards are on hand for extra safety, as is a strong police presence for extra security. The beach is generally a very safe and enjoyable place to visit in the summer months.

After a day at the beach, and if there is enough tine, Barcelona Zoo and Ciutadella Park are close by. About a 10-minute walk, you will be at Barcelona Zoo, a great place to visit for a few hours. The nearby Ciutadella Park is another great place to enjoy, much better as it has free entry.

How To Get To Barceloneta Beach

You can walk along from La Rambla or Port Vell areas of Barcelona towards Barceloneta. You can also take the metro line 4 to Barceloneta metro station. The walk from La Rambla, to Barceloneta may be uncomfortable for some during the hot summer months. Another great way to arrive at Barceloneta beach is by E-Bike or electric scooter.
