The architect Lluís Domènch i Montaner was also responsible for the design of the Hospital de Sant Pau. In some regards, there are many similarities in design and influences between both Catal Art Nouveau buildings.

The design is typical of other Catalan modernism buildings, with curves and shapes and detailed decorations. The facade of the building has elements from Spanish and Arabic architecture. The building has red brick and exposed iron, mosaics, stained-glass and glazed tiles.

The concert hall has seating for 2200 people is the only auditorium that can be illuminated by natural daylight. This is due to having an amazing skylight of stained glass with the centre piece in a large inverted dome in gold and blue to represent sun and sky. The concert hall still gives regular performances of classical music, jazz, chamber music and Canço.
