The Portal Miralles Gaudí is a gate or entrance arch designed by Antoni Gaudí in modernism style for the entrance to Casa Miralles. As with many of Gaudís creations, nature is an important factor of its design. The gateway, constructed in stone, it is shaped in a flowing, cave like formation. Above the gateway is another of Guadi’s signature elements, a three dimension cross.

The gateway design elements highlight Gaudí’s love of nature and his passion for his Catholic religion. The gateway stands at number 55 Paseo Manuel Girona, in the Sarrià district of Barcelona. The project constructed in 1901 for the industrialist Hermenegild Miralles. The entrance gateway, restored in 2000 and is among a less known collection of Antoni Gaudi works. A statue of Gaudí by Joanquim Camps, erected by the gate in tribute to Antoni Gaudí. This makes a great photo opportunity to have your photo taken by the statue of Gaudí.

A most splendid modernist gateway, now sitting within a modern and vibrant Barcelona neighborhood. The contrast between this beautiful modernist work of Gaudí and the modern city apartments constructed years later, couldn't be more stark.

The original Casa Miralles is no longer present, but the entrance remains leading on to a street that fortunate residents have a unique Gaudí entrance design to pass through on their daily business. The Portal Miralles Gaudí or Miralles Gateway is definitely one of the lesser known Gaudí sights in Barcelona. Is it worth visiting, we think so, this is Gaudí at his best. The gateway in itself is like no other entrance. The wavy and smooth, flowing design of the archway is reminiscent of some of Gaudís design styles he used in Park Güell. The fact that this unique gateway still stands is testament to the brilliance of Gaudí and the love Barcelona has for him.
